Lunar
Eclipse 2021: A
super-celestial event will be seen in the sky gazers as the total lunar eclipse
will occur on May 26, 2019, which is tomorrow. This phenomenon is also known as
the Super Blood Moon because the Moon appears slightly reddish-orange and since
it is a full moon, the satellite will actually appear even larger.
This is the first full lunar eclipse in two years. The last full lunar eclipse occurred on 21 January 2019.
A full lunar
eclipse occurs when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, causing the
Sun's rays to not reach the satellite directly. The Moon is completely in the
shadow of the Earth and that is why it is a full lunar eclipse.
Lunar
eclipses will appear in East Asia, Australia, the Pacific, and the Americas.
It will also be visible from parts of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Ocean.
People in the Pacific Islands, including Eastern Australia, New Zealand and
Hawaii, are fortunate to be able to see both total and partial eclipses.
Complete
eclipse will not be seen in India.
Only a partial eclipse will be seen in eastern India, Nepal, western China,
Mongolia and parts of eastern Russia, "which occurs when the moon moves in
and out of the Earth's shadow".
What causes a blood moon?
On Earth, we see similar effects during sunrise and
sunset, when the sky has a more red glow than the day. During a full lunar
eclipse, the entire lunar disc enters the womb of the Earth, so lucky moon
watchers will be able to see the full, red moon. (Taken from Google)
